Laura Guinan Named Gresham Smith’s Director of Project Delivery Excellence

Guinan to Transition to New Role as Part of Firm's Established Leadership Succession Process

Gresham Smith, a top-ranked architecture and engineering firm with more than $320 million in annual gross revenue, announced today that Laura Guinan, AIA, CDT, has been named the firm’s director of Project Delivery Excellence, effective January 1, 2025.

As a part of the firm’s established transition process for senior leadership positions, Guinan replaces John Wharton, who has taken on a new role as senior project delivery advisor for Gresham Smith.

Guinan joined Gresham Smith in 2019 as a senior architect and quality control specialist, before being promoted as assistant director of project delivery excellence. She has brought a tremendous amount of value to the firm, including leading efforts to implement processes that ensure greater efficiency and standardization, providing expanded training opportunities for quality processes, and developing new procedures with an emphasis on construction contract administration. Guinan is a licensed architect in Florida, is affiliated with the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and Construction Specifications Institute (CSI) and holds a Construction Documents Technologist (CDT) certification.

“Laura has been an instrumental part of our Project Delivery Excellence team for years, and we are excited to announce that she is taking over as our new director,” said Rodney Chester, CEO and board chair at Gresham Smith. “We’re also thankful for John’s service and commitment to Gresham Smith over the past decade, and for his significant contributions to the firm that have elevated our project delivery practices.”
