Industry Veteran and Food Safety Expert Joins Gresham Smith as Process Engineer

Senior Technical Leader to Serve in the Firm’s Food & Beverage Market

Gresham Smith is excited to announce that Elaine Tobias is joining the firm as a senior consultant for process engineering.

Tobias joins the firm after more than four decades in the food and beverage industry, where she has led in-house teams within multinational corporations, such as Unilever and Starbucks, and served in consulting roles at large specialty engineering firms. She is also widely respected in the industry as a longtime contributing member of 3-A Sanitary Standards Inc., which oversees standards for the hygienic design of equipment used in the food and beverage industry. In her role with 3-A SSI, she helps write standards that are used across the industry.

In her previous roles, she has led food process design, hygiene design as well as writing equipment specifications, standards and training manuals. She has also taken projects from the research and development stage to full-scale manufacturing.

At Gresham Smith, she will join the FDA/USDA-regulated markets group within the firm’s Industrial market, where she will bring new insights to the team as well as serve as a mentor to junior staff.

Tobias received her Bachelor of Science degree in chemical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and she lives in Overland Park, Kansas.
