Director of Innovation Mike Sewell, P.E., LCI, will host three Walkshops at the National Association of City Transportation Officials’ (NACTO) 2023 Designing Cities conference in Denver, Colorado from May 16-18 at the Colorado Convention Center. The Walkshops will be hosted in partnership with Denver’s Department of Transportation & Infrastructure (DOTI). Walkshop participants will take a bike tour of Northwest Denver while utilizing Gresham Smith’s MPATH: Empathic Analytics tool and smartphone app to measure the level of comfort and stress experienced by coupling community-shared biometric data from modern wearables and location.
A summary of the Walkshop is below.
Building Out a Complete Bicycle Network in Northwest Denver
Hosted by Gresham Smith Director of Innovation Mike Sewell and Denver Public Works Vision Zero Project Manager Rolf Eisinger.
For the past four years, Denver has worked to build out a complete, low-cost bicycle network in three of the city’s densest areas, in an effort known as the Community Transportation Network. On this walkshop, we’ll explore the recently-constructed network in Northwest Denver, and learn how bikeway design has evolved over time in Northwest Denver and the city as a whole. We’ll also discuss the trials and tribulations that DOTI has worked through along the way. Then, we’ll stop at a locally-owned tamale shop for a snack and drink before heading back Downtown.
Walkshop dates and times:
- Tuesday, May 16, 3:00 PM – 5:30 PM MDT
- Wednesday, May 17, 3:00 PM – 5:30 PM MDT
- Thursday, May 18, 9:00 AM – 12: 00 PM MDT
