Gresham Smith is proud to announce that the firm has been selected by Memphis Light, Gas and Water (MLGW) to provide gas, water and electrical engineering on-call services for Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) projects in Memphis, TN.
“We are thrilled to expand our portfolio of work throughout West Tennessee, and we look forward to establishing a prosperous partnership with MLGW,” said Gresham Smith’s Senior VP of Transportation, Greg Dotson, P.E.
These projects will employ cross-market expertise, involving both our Transportation and Water + Environment markets. The scope of work will consist of preparing engineering design and construction plans, cost estimates, materials and construction specifications and contractor qualifications for TDOT projects requiring utility relocation. The firm’s first project will involve relocating existing natural gas, electric and water facilities along the right-of-way of the Thomas Street Bridge over the CNIC Railroad in Shelby County.
During the construction phase of project, Gresham Smith will attend periodic construction review meetings, work with contractors to provide clarification on design, resolve potential construction issues, and discuss any necessary plan revisions.
“It is always insightful and rewarding to work with colleagues of different perspectives and expertise to achieve our clients’ goals,” commented Water + Environment Senior Engineer, Justin Avent, P.E.
“This series of projects presents a great opportunity for Gresham Smith teams to collaborate across markets and we are excited to get started,” added Gresham Smith’s Utilities Practice Leader Rick Yeager.
