Gresham Smith is proud to welcome Nick Hendrix, P.E. as the Kentucky State Transportation Leader. In his new role, Hendrix will oversee operations of the firm’s award-winning Transportation practice in Kentucky.
Hendrix joins the firm with more than 15 years of experience in the transportation industry. Over his career, he has delivered a broad range of programs and services both at the local level and in multiple Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) Highway Districts.
As Kentucky State Transportation Leader, Hendrix will develop strategic plans to expand the firm’s footprint in Kentucky in terms of services offered, client base and profitability.

Hendrix started his career with the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet as a scholarship student, working with Districts 7 and 9. His full-time employment was spent in District 6 in Project Delivery and Preservation. He was responsible for multiple roadway construction and maintenance projects, including serving as the section engineer of the award-winning KY 237 Widening and Reconstruction. Most recently, Hendrix served as the County Engineer and Director of Public Works for the Kenton County Fiscal Court, the largest county government in the state. He is an active member of the Kentucky Society of Professional Engineers. He also serves as an Instructor at Kentucky Transportation Center, Local Technical Assistance Program.

Hendrix received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in civil engineering from the University of Kentucky. Outside of the office, Hendrix enjoys spending time with his wife and three kids, fishing and trapshooting.
