Gresham Smith is proud to welcome Chris Koon, AIA, to the firm’s Life and Work Places market as a studio design leader in the Dallas office.
Chris brings over 25 years of experience, including high-end commercial, office, civic and higher education projects. He is a design-focused architect with a strong track record of building lasting client relationships, leading business development strategies and ensuring successful project execution. His unique approach to design is process-oriented, carefully balancing artistic expression with organizational order. As a studio design leader, Chris will be instrumental in driving the firm’s growth in Dallas, focusing on vertical projects in higher education, commercial, private development and civic sectors.

Chris joins the firm from Pelli Clarke & Partners, where he was an associate principal, specializing in exterior facade development and interior public spaces. His recent focus involved growing the firm’s initiatives in Texas, an expertise he brings to Gresham Smith’s growth in Dallas. His recent work with the firm includes an office tower in Frisco and the Four Seasons Turtle Creek Project in Dallas; other significant projects include One Congress in Boston, the Buerger Center at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and Yale-National University of Singapore College in Singapore.
Additionally, Chris was an associate principal at bnim architects, where he worked on the Sarofim Research Building and the Cizik School of Nursing at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. As an architect at Polshek Partnership (now Ennead), he worked on the University of Michigan’s Taubman Biomedical Science Research Building and the Holland Performing Arts Center in Omaha, Nebraska.
Chris is a member of the American Institute of Architects and holds a Bachelor of Arts in architecture from Yale University and a Master of Architecture from University of Texas at Austin.
