Gresham Smith is pleased to announce the completion of the new Jackson Health System (JHS) Urgent Care Center, located in the Jackson Medical Pavilion in Coral Gables, Florida. The project consisted of a 10,000-square-foot, single-story building equipped with eight treatment rooms, two resuscitation rooms, as well as diagnostics consisting of a CT Scanner and an X-Ray room. The facility will operate daily during regular business hours, year-round and marks a significant milestone as the first facility of this type to open for Jackson Health System in the city.
The main lobby and patient entrance are located on the western side of the building, adjacent to the vehicular entry along Galiano Street. The ambulatory drive will also be located on the western façade of the building and will share the patient vehicle entry and exit. The facility will provide a hospital-based medical practice program and an overflow fast-track treatment area. Additionally, the newly constructed building is pursuing the LEED Silver Certification, as required by Miami Dade County Ordinance.
The primary function of the new facility is to provide immediate care to patients, coordinating their response from admission to discharge, and ensuring a smooth transition to either their homes or transfer/admission to the nearby Jackson Memorial Hospital.
“We take pride in our involvement on this project,” said Healthcare Studio Leader and Project Manager Jose C. Prado, AIA, NCARB. “We eagerly anticipate witnessing the continued growth of Jackson Health System and the community which it serves.”
Jackson Health System is a South Florida regional leader in trauma and emergency room care. As such, JHS seeks to offer more easily accessible neighborhood healthcare with the direct full support of Jackson Memorial Hospital.
