Where did you grow up?
I grew up in Belo Horizonte, Brasil.
Where did you go to school?
I received my bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the Federal University of Minas Gerais.
What was your first job?
My very first job was making pizzas at Papa John’s.
What is your favorite project you’ve worked on while at Gresham Smith and why?
I’ve really enjoyed the daily challenges of working on the on-call program at F. Wayne Hill WRC, while striving to help the client keep their facility operational. To reduce a growing backlog of maintenance, improve equipment availability, and increase operations reliability, we’ve implemented an adaptive and innovative on-call delivery model that allows delivery teams to quickly respond to emergency and urgent maintenance/repair challenges at the WRC. It’s been a very rewarding experience to see our plans and goals come to fruition for the client.
What’s your favorite Gresham Smith memory?
I always leave the annual Georgia Association of Water Professionals (GAWP) conference in Savannah with new knowledge and memories, alongside coworkers and industry fellows. I recently attended and presented at this year’s conference and it was a great experience, as always!
When you were 10 years old what did you want to be?
A professional soccer player, like most kids growing up in Brasil.
If you weren’t in your current profession, what would you be doing?
Since I love sports so much, I would probably be doing something in that realm – perhaps a professional sports coach or a PE teacher.
What’s on your bucket list?
I want to visit the 7 wonders of the modern world. I only have two more to see – the Great Wall of China and the Taj Mahal!

“Even Flow” by Pearl Jam
Three objects on your desk?
Chocolate, snacks, and a calculator.
