Gresham Smith is excited to announce that after a nearly three-decade-long career with the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT), Marshall Troup is joining the firm as a deputy program manager in the Midtown Atlanta office.
Most recently, Marshall served as a district program manager overseeing the District 2 region, which covers East Central Georgia along the I-20 corridor. In that role, he oversaw project timelines, resource availability and requirements across the region. Over his nearly 30-year career with the state, he held positions such as senior project manager, assistant district program manager, scheduler, design engineer and contracts manager. He also played a significant role in training new project managers as chair of a training committee within GDOT’s Office of Program Delivery.
At Gresham Smith, he will take a leadership role as deputy program manager of delivery on one of the Transportation market’s largest contracts with GDOT’s Statewide Traffic Operations & Safety program. As a senior leader, he will also play a role mentoring younger project managers across the Transportation market.
“Marshall is a seasoned project management leader with a long history of service with GDOT, and he has made a significant impact in how the department delivers projects across the state,” said Consultancy Services Practice Leader Jeremy Busby. “We’re excited to have him join our team in Midtown Atlanta, where he will immediately take a leadership role on our team’s work to deliver for GDOT on its critically important Statewide Traffic Operations & Safety program.”
Marshall received his Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering technology from Florida A&M University and his Master of Science degree in urban policy studies from Georgia State University. He is an active member in Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., and has served as president of the Stone Mountain-Lithonia Alumni Chapter.
“The culture of inclusion and belonging at Gresham Smith is what attracted me to this new role,” Troup said. “In talking with former colleagues at GDOT and leaders at Gresham Smith, I was drawn to the culture of the firm and the Midtown office in particular.”
