As chief strategy officer (CSO), Randy Gibson oversees the implementation of corporate-level strategies that shape the firm’s long-term direction and growth—both domestically and internationally. His focus is on the overall client experience and multimarket initiatives that offer strategic value to Gresham Smith’s clients and partners. Apart from his role as Gresham Smith’s CSO, Randy is also a member of the firm’s board of directors.
With over 35 years of experience encompassing business development, project management, strategic planning, client and stakeholder relations, marketing and financial performance, Randy combines a passion for architecture with an engineer’s perspective. His role as CSO extends to spearheading innovation and sustainability initiatives across the firm’s practice, to develop and deliver leading-edge value propositions to our clients. In external roles, Randy is a member of the American Institute of Architects Large Firm Round Table’s Executive Committee. He also holds the positions of president and vice chair of the Innovation Design Consortium, a public-benefit corporation. Additionally, Randy is a member of the University of Tennessee Tickle College of Engineering’s Board of Advisors.
Before being named the firm’s CSO, Randy served as division vice president, where he led the strategic growth of the Healthcare and Life and Work Places markets. Prior to joining Gresham Smith, Randy held various executive leadership roles with Phillips Swager Associates (PSA) and PSA-Dewberry.
