Paying Homage to Fort Benjamin Harrison

Nestled just north of Indianapolis, Lawrence Township proudly houses the historical Fort Benjamin Harrison. Despite its decommission, the fort retains an impressive collection of well-preserved Colonial Revival style structures, earning it a spot on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. Cityscape Residential sought the creative expertise of Gresham Smith to design a project that would pay homage to the fort’s history, yet infuse a modern aesthetic befitting the vision of the burgeoning mixed-use community. Seeking to invigorate their standard unit plans, the client leaned on our extensive knowledge of market trends that harmonize with building efficiency. The locality brims with amenities such as a newly established public library, a variety of restaurants, and the picturesque Fort Harrison State Park—all within a comfortable walking distance.
