The client was motivated to create a spa-like environment quite different from a traditional medical facility. The hospital was carefully positioned to take full advantage of the views of nature throughout the 72-acre site – without impacting the existing wetlands. Lushly landscaped gardens provide respite for patients and family members. Interior finishes were inspired by a luxury hotel, with sleek, crisp lines and a calming palette. To support hospitality, comfort and convenience, each inpatient room includes a sofa bed, relaxation area, and outlets for computers and phones. Our team also delivered a sleek wayfinding system, streamlining the facility and making it easier navigate.
Technology, efficiency and flexibility are the core concepts of the treatment spaces. Six operating rooms include OR integration systems and robotic technology. Adjacent to the surgical suites, two interventional radiology labs share a preparation area, phase-II recovery space and PACU space, with shelled space available for two future interventional labs. In the emergency department, the hospital staff uses a dedicated interior loop, which feeds into exam rooms from one direction. Patients and guests use an exterior loop, which feeds into exam rooms from another direction while providing separation from the hustle and bustle of back-of-house operations. The hospital design can accommodate expansion up to 300+ beds.
