Gresham Smith is proud to announce that Sustainability and Resiliency Program Manager Lauren Seydewitz, LEED AP BD + C, and Senior Civil Engineer Levi Sciara, P.E., will speak at the American Society for Health Care Engineering (ASHE) annual conference in Boston, Massachusetts. On Wednesday, July 20, Seydewitz and Sciara will share design strategies for mitigating climate threats to hospitals.
See below for a summary on the presentation.
Preparing for the Inevitable: Mitigating Climate Threats to Hospitals
The changing climate poses a major threat to health care providers because natural disasters often disable health care facilities at the precise time their services are needed the most. Working for Baptist Health Care, Gresham Smith developed a climate risk assessment that to assess how their new facility could be impacted by 100-, 200-, 500- and 1,000-year storms. This presentation will offer a case study to discuss drivers in accounting for future climate conditions when making capital investments and the process of doing so in a design and construction project.
