Gresham Smith is excited to announce that on April 21, 2022, the following employees were recognized as new owners during the firm’s annual Celebration event.
Mohammed F. Abu-Tayeh, PMP – Nashville, Tennessee
Mohammed serves as the Market Vice President of the firm’s Corporate + Urban Design market, which encompasses more than 80 professionals and projects across the country. Abu-Tayeh brings nearly 20 years of experience in project development, design and construction processes, as well as operations management.
Sarah Blackburn, P.E. – Alpharetta, Georgia
As Georgia Roadway Design Department Leader Sarah has over a decade of experience connecting people and places across Georgia. With a focus on safety and efficiency, as well as expertise in the Georgia Department of Transportation’s design policies and design software, she is pushing boundaries towards multi-modal, technology-driven transportation solutions.
Michael Collarin, P.E., BEMP, LEED AP – Charlotte, North Carolina
As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, Michael specializes in the design of HVAC, plumbing and solar thermal systems. His sustainable and innovative designs include ground loop heat exchangers, solar thermal domestic water systems, and desiccant dehumidification systems. He performs building commissioning, energy analysis and energy modeling for a variety of buildings.
Matt D’Angelo, P.E. – Nashville, Tennessee
A nationally recognized thought leader in transportation, Matt serves as Practice Leader for Transportation Systems Management & Operations (TSM&O). He has provided program guidance as well as project support from concept to implementation for a wide range of transportation technology projects throughout his career. Matt is actively working with clients on applying emerging solutions to solve transportation challenges.
Randy Drake, P.E. – Nashville, Tennessee
As a Senior Project Manager, Randy brings over a decade of structural engineering experience, and strives to take any burdens off of the client by handling issues as they arise and bringing back solutions in a timely manner. Having worked on many large-scale projects with long-term clients, Randy enjoys seeing designs brought to completion during the construction phase and forming lasting relationship with his clients.
Carla Holmes, P.E., PTOE – Suwanee, Georgia
Carla is a Senior Transportation Engineer with extensive experience in both the public and private sectors. Her areas of expertise include project management, transportation planning, livable center initiatives studies, corridor studies, traffic operations, intelligent transportation systems, traffic incident management, traffic impact analyses and public involvement activities as well as construction engineering and inspection.
Louis Johnson, PLA, ASLA – Louisville, Kentucky
Recognized both internally and externally as a leader in the firm’s Land Planning market, Senior Landscape Architect Louis Johnson has served as the project executive on several high-profile projects, including the City of Louisville’s Broadway Master Plan redesign and historic Parkland Plaza revitalization. Johnson has also worked to further Gresham Smith’s Landscape Architecture practice through community-centered design strategies, and been a strong proponent of the firm’s Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging initiative.
Carrie Kovacs, IIDA, LEED AP – Tampa, Florida
A Senior Interior Designer, Carrie joined the firm in 2001 and has since helped design numerous healthcare spaces that meet the needs of health systems, care providers and patients alike, including St. Joseph’s Hospital South, Morton Plant Hospital’s patient tower, and Sarasota Memorial Hospital’s patient tower. Carrie is a graduate of the University of Tennessee – Knoxville where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Interior Design.
Michele McMinn, IIDA, LEED AP ID + C, WELL AP, EDAC – Nashville, Tennessee
As a Senior Interior Designer, Michele focuses on wellness, sustainability and the assimilation of community and cultural interpretations within mixed-use, corporate, education, and healthcare environments. Integrating interdisciplinary teams with a collaborative approach, she challenges and inspires clients to rethink traditional spaces in new and creative ways.
Matt Mulick, AIA, NCARB – Nashville, Tennessee
Matt brings more than 22 years of experience delivering architectural services across the globe. As a Senior Architect and Industrial Architectural Department Manager, he applies his extensive design, management, team leadership and business development skills to support Gresham Smith’s growing Industrial team.
Jessica Smith, NCIDQ – Tampa, Florida
Jessica joined the firm in 2014 and has provided leadership on several large, complex projects across the firm’s Aviation market, including the interior design of Tampa International Airport’s recently opened SkyCenter Atrium, as well as the terminal and lobby expansion at Charlotte-Douglas International Airport. She is also the chair of Gresham Smith’s Women’s Employee Resource Network, where she focuses on empowering women, helping them advance leadership skills, and participate in mentoring opportunities.
Angie Womack – Nashville, Tennessee
A 35-year employee of the firm, Director of Marketing Resources Angie leads a team in developing strategies geared toward expanding Gresham Smith’s external market share. Outside of the office, Womack has served as a conference committee member for the Tennessee Chapter of the American Public Works Association and has volunteered her time with United Way, Martha O’Bryan Center and the Salvation Army.
