The Future of Pharmacy is Here
Gresham Smith worked with USF Health to plan a space that embodies the vision of the future of the TCOP. The design will integrate with the building’s existing mechanical, electrical and life safety systems, and will extend many of the classroom technologies and innovative educational initiatives already in place for the Morsani College of Medicine.
Facilitating Interaction
Filling about one-and-a-half floors of the existing USF Health Downtown building that opened in January 2020, the new home will be a space for students to learn, work, create and thrive. Featuring ample interaction areas that encourage collaboration and socialization, the space will create an engaging education atmosphere.
Fostering Innovative Opportunities
The facilities will include a dedicated space to provide an innovative environment to learn advanced compounding techniques and hone clinical skills for students. As health care becomes even more team based moving into the future, the new home will foster greater opportunities for interprofessional training, a core component of the educational mission for all USF Health programs, including doctor of medicine, nursing, public health, physical therapy and physician assistant programs. A unique ‘maker’ space will offer a creative environment for student groups, such as Innovation, Technology, and Entrepreneurship in Healthcare (ITEH), to cultivate new ideas and discoveries.
With the existing USF Health Downtown building located Water Street Tampa district of downtown Tampa, the new home will be appealing and likely impact the TCOP’s recruitment efforts. Construction is on target to be completed in 2024.
