Hospital Corporation of America (HCA) subsidiaries Parallon Business Solutions, the Sarah Cannon Research Institute and HealthTrust were originally operating from multiple leased spaces located across the Greater Nashville area. HCA’s vision was to consolidate leased space and business operations into a single, valuable real estate asset with the goal of achieving improved energy and operational efficiency, lowered operational costs and an increased presence in the urban core.

Increase the City’s Urban Footprint

As the first building to rise in the Capitol View community, the tower sets the aesthetic tone for the entire development. It feeds the downtown economic engine and drives neighborhood activation through incorporation of ground floor retail, patio dining and wide sidewalks.

Iconic Design for Major Gateway into Downtown Nashville

The steel-framed office tower is sensitive in scale, detailing, material quality and texture to a highly pedestrian context that features new buildings and embraces the unique industrial character of nearby iconic landmarks such as the Marathon Village neighborhood and the historic Bruton Snuff factory.

Increased Efficiency, Lower Operational Costs

  • Energy utilization will be 20% lower than average for a building of this size
  • Potable water use was reduced by 20%
  • 30% of the value of construction materials was sourced within 500 miles of the site
  • 20% of the value of building materials is recycled content
  • Bike racks and bike storage are available

Purposeful and Strategic Parking Solutions

Below-grade and partly concealed parking solutions help maximize the bonus height program and meet dense development requirements without compromising the sense of an urban neighborhood.

Expression of a New Brand

Our Experiential Design and Wayfinding / Branded Environments team worked closely with HCA to apply their new primary skyline identity and subsidiary brand identity elements on the building. We also developed a comprehensive branded wayfinding and identity signage program for the site, garage and office tower.
